Global Wellness Day – 7 steps to wellness

June 13, 2020

Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of of making choices towards a healthy & fulfilling life. In order to make Wellness a lifestyle, Global Wellness Day aims to adopt the following seven simple steps. What is important is not to implement all of the steps all at once, but to incorporate at least just a few of them into your daily life on a regular basis.

We’re sharing below and hope that you will use these healthy tips on Global Wellness Day and each day that follows.

  1. Walk one hour.

Walking is one of the easiest ways to get the exercise you need to stay healthy. You feel happier as you walk because the brain secretes endorphin while you are walking. You can keep fit by walking. Your muscles get stronger, you lose belly fat, the level of cholesterol reduces and it helps you overcome your weight problems.

  1. Drink more water.

Clear skin, slimmer waistline and other reasons to sip more throughout the day. People who drink less water might suffer exhaustion, attention deficiency and memory problems. The more water you drink the less carbonated drink you consume.

  1. Don’t use single use plastic

This starts with refusing single-use plastic items such as shopping bags, straws, coffee stirrers, plastic bottles, cutlery, barrier and vegetable bags, and coffee cups. The plastic bottles made of petroleum waste cause innumerable damage to our health and the environment.

  1. Eat organic, locally sourced produce.

Try to consume foods which are produced through natural methods by using appropriate fertilization and weed control techniques without using pesticides and certain chemicals.

  1. Do a good deed.

Do a good deed to break your prejudices, to make the world a better place to live. See how you will change your life by changing someone else’s. Doing good makes us feel good, raises our spirits, builds a sense of community, creates a bond that benefits us now and in the future and is psychologically a very positive and useful thing to do.

  1. Eat a family dinner.

Eat a family dinner with your loved ones in a room where, if possible, there are no smart phones and TV. Talk about your day. Listen to each other’s recommendations. Some research shows that the family dinners with the loved ones have a psychologically positive effect on the children who suffer obesity.

  1. Go to bed at 10:00 p.m.

Sleep is a critical process during which our body regulates everything and repairs and heals itself. It slows down ageing and protects us from diseases. HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is released by the brain into the bloodstream during sleep and it’s release is part of the repair and restoration function of sleep. The major period of HRH release is in the first period of stage 3 sleep during the night.
